Intermittent power steering.
I have developed a problem with my power steering, when the truck is cold I have p/s however when the truck warms up it seems to go away. The steering box is not that old and the lines are new, would the pump be causing this?

Re: Intermittent power steering.
have you checked your PS belt for good tention ,is the fluid level ok ,how old is the fluid ,is it foaming up (air in system), I would at the very least suck or drain the fluid and change the fluid . dose the pump whine when you turn the wheel .

Belt is good and the fluid lvl is ok, was replaced when the steering box was replaced. I don't get any noise when I turn the wheel, not even when it gets to it's limit on either side.

Re: Intermittent power steering.
I have a similar problem with the power steering on my truck. Steers effortlessly when cold but when warmed up or hot gets real hard to turn when parking or engine is at idle. I had replaced the pump with a reman from Cardone cause the original was leaking. I have a new pump I bought from Tuff Stuff but until I get the engine back in and on the road I won't know if I've fixed it. I talked to the Borgeson folks at the Nats last year and they thought the pump was the culprit.

Re: Intermittent power steering.
Good lookin pump, pricey but what isn't these days. If it's like their other products it should be good.

Re: Intermittent power steering.
Sounds like an issue with the pressure relif valve in the pump to me. I would replace the pump.
