71 frame question
Ok, my 67 frame was bent so I purchased a 71 donor truck for the frame. Once I started comparing the two frames I noticed some differences. Attached is a picture with four differences I found:
1- I believe is a bracket for the automatic transmission linkage 2- I have no idea 3- I believe is a helper spring but never seen one like this 4- Is this a factory rear bumper? Can anyone confirm my assumptions. Thanks |

Re: 71 frame question
1967 is different One from 1968--72 1967 does not have a power steering on the frame Depends on what your options were for either truck if you had coil overs in the rear on your 1967 to leaf spring in the rear Most people in the '70s went with a leaf spring. One thing better from 1967 to 1968--72 is you can bolt a Steering box on 1971 frame The bumper looks factory If you had a 1967 3/4 ton and you got a 1971 3/4 ton you will Love the new Dana 60 slide off drums makes doing brakes easier.

Re: 71 frame question
Going by my 70 C20.
1. Looks like the auto trans linkage I have on my truck. 2. Looks like an exhaust hanger. The exhaust should be inside the frame at this point. I am assuming this is for aftermarket exhaust that dumps in front of the rear wheels. 3. I have these helpers on my truck. 4. Not sure. I don't think my bumper has that vertical diamond plate. Could had been an option though.

Re: 71 frame question
Thanks for the info guys. Just wanted to make sure I knew what they all were before I made any changes or removed anything.

Re: 71 frame question
#4, I am not 100% sure but I believe I have seen that same bumper and it was a GM dealer add-on option.
