Post What Flowmaster to use???????

What Flowmaster and what size pipe should I use on stock 396. I dont want it to drive me out of the cab but would like a nice sound as I put the power to the old Longhorn. Thanks.

I run 50s,2.5in pipes dumped over the rear on mine, 350sb they sound nice but can get loud in the cab on highway 65-70mph 2500 rpm but sound awsome when cruising town, not loud at all in the cab. I've heard good things about their DELTA FLOWS not as loud in the cab.

I have 40's on my mild 350, and i dont think they are too loud. They have a nice deep tone to them. If you want them quieter, get the Delta Flow mufflers, and run the exhaust straight out the back, instead of out the side, or turndowns.

I have the 50s also. I am very satisfied with them. Just load enough to turn heads, but not loud enough to attract cops.

I would go with 2 1/2" pipe,& a set of 50s. The 40s arent too bad till you get out on the road. 4.10 gears will make em right on that resonance point at hyway speed. On the longhorn, you can move em back,& that will help tone em down. also an addition of an H pipe in the system will mellow them. I run a 383(approx 390 hp/440 tork),& had headers,2 1/4 pipe, muffs just behind the cab,40s,& 2 1/4 tail pipes straight out the back/with 3 1/2 X 18" cans.....it was too beligerent! I have gone to 2 1/2 " pipe, added an H pipe, & moved the muffs back to hang at the cross member just ahead of the axle. I just have turn downs (for now),but the system is quieter......untill you stand on the throttle. Good luck.....69 longhorn.
