I am working on assembling a 235" but having trouble finding the correct gasket for the intake to exhaust manifold joint surface (bolt holes) and a spacer for the carb base. Any help?

Are you sure thats a 235 and not a 216 intake?Im just working on a 235 intake now and using a gasket set for a 235 and no problems.only guessing at that as the 216 carb base is different than the 235. It is smaller, bore and mounting hole spacing.just someting to verify....

^^^^^ I'd have to believe that is the issue.

First, do you actually have a 235? That sounds a bit strange to ask but we have too many folks who assume that they have something when they have something else.

The rings for the intake ports on a 235 pressure oil engine won't fit in a 216 head and the 216 rings flop around in a 235 head.

Lets assume though that someone swapped in a 235 long block and used the 216 manifolds. I think I did that on my brother's 48 Chev 1 ton.

Looking at this speedway heat plate for when you swap to headers on one there are two visually different gaskets for that spot. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-L6...iABEgJ3AfD_BwE

On has to remember that there is an early dipper oiled 235 along with the later pressure oiled 235 that we normally view as a 235.

I think this is what's going on here. We used the short block that came in the truck. 1955 pressure oiled short block. We used the 848 head off the 1962 cracked block motor, it was fresh and has stainless seats. We used the intake/exhaust that came with the truck as seen with horn mount, And we had the carb that was on that intake restored. We do have other intake/exhaust sets and noticed the carbs were bigger. So might it be a 216 intake/exhaust set?

I'd believe that to be correct. The diameter of the intake ports on the manifold compared to the diameter of the intake ports on the head will tell you if it is though. The 216 has smaller intake ports both on the head and the intake.

Some info for you. Check casting number, by the horn mount, gm and a 7 digit number. 50-53 216 will be, 3835395,3835527. 50-54 235/261 will be 3835590. Also,the gasket in question 216 measures3.5x45/16 ,235 31/16 wide onI.D. 235 carb mounting studs are 2 15/16 center to center. Hope this helps.

Thank you one and all. Quindel3100 3835527 is what I have, 216 intake. Considering it's a stock looking restoration the small intake and carb shouldn't be a problem.
