Rear tow hook authenticity question
Just saw these on eBay. Can one of the resident experts let me know if these are original. I don’t mind paying the money but I need to make certain. Thanks in advance. They would go on my 72’ K10. Thx. Martin

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
I have the extreme bends so I don’t need them but the seller also has front tow hooks that allegedly came off a 67 for $500. Anyway, let me know re the rear hooks. Martin

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
If you do a search you will see this subject has come up before. I posted a pic of some in the GM box on here.

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
I did do research but it is hard for me to tell if these are authentic. I will do more research. I was hoping someone could easily spot a fake vs an original. Thx Martin

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
The price surprises me compared to what i've seen in the past but I haven't been keeping tabs on these lately either. In my experience these aren't as sought after as the front hooks.

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
Knowing what the frame looks like in the back of these years I'm wondering where that would actually bolt with the triangle bolt pattern. Those look more like the front hook of a medium duty

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
The GM instructions included how a bracket was supposed to be fabricated for the hooks

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
These were 'over the counter' dealer items, correct? Not factory installed?

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
From personal experience I can tell you that these are a waste of money if you plan to use a bumper and mount these flush along the underside of the frame. These do not extend low enough for use without damaging a bumper for a stock height K truck.

Re: Rear tow hook authenticity question
I also confirmed that the Ebay hooks are original. I have the extreme fronts for my 72 K10 Cheyenne. My original owner seller had the dealer remove the rear chrome bumper and had the dealer install a step bumper so she could pull a horse trailer; am not sure if the hooks would interfere with that— not that it matters that much— I don’t see myself using them. Will have to think about it relative to cost and the fact they are not really visible. Anyway, thanks for the great replies. Martin
