Conversion

Hello all...I have a 72 Blazer with a four inch suspension lift...springs in the front, blocks and add a leaves out back. I'm going to swap a Dana 60 front and a 14 bolt rear out of an 83 Checy 3/4 ton with a diesil.....the 83 has a 700R4 auto in it as well. Here's what I'd like to find out. Besides changing the spring perches on the 14 bolt......and the shock mount change.......and the conversion joints for the driveshafts......is there anything else that I'm going to have to do to make this set-up work properly?
Will the master cylinder need to be swapped out? (I'm assuming) How can I get the 700R4 auto to work with my current column shifter for a T-350?
I wont have to use the hydro-boost set-up for the Dana 60 will I?
Any suggestions would be great...thanks a lot.....Patch

no 3/4 ton ever left the factory with a Dana 60 up front, only 1 tons. and no 1 ton ever left the factory with a 700R4. my guess would be that this truck actually is a 3/4 ton and not a 1 ton.

to add on, you probably have a dana 44 or 10 bolt front axle. they do look like dana 60's, but like Jeremy said, 3/4 ton GM trucks did not get the dana 60. Only Furd 3/4 tons got a dana 60.

Guy's......

Lets pretend one of you answered my questions :p .......I know all of the aformention "they didn't build that" and the difference between a Dana 60 and a 44....come on fellas.....I was born at night...but not last night!!
The truck was put together for a work truck.....so yes.....no 3/4 tons came with a 60.....and no diesel came with a 700R4.....so, Is there anyone out there who has swapped a 60 and a 14 Bolt into a first gen Blazer and also has done a 700R4? Will the 700R4 bolt up to a 205?
Thanks again guys.........umm......I think

alright, if you wanna be picky :p i can answer a couple...

if the frame is originally a one ton, the rear axle will bolt up with no mods...same with the dana 60. however, if its a 3/4 ton the spring perches will need to be moved on the rear.

the dana 60 does not need hydroboost to work.

also, the brake fittings may be metric on the '83 and will be SAE on the '72, so that issue will need addressed (if it is an issue at all).

actually the 6.2 was offered backed by a 700R4, ask Arveetek, i believe his was a factory 6.2/700 truck. as was stated, and GM leaf sprung front axle will work. as for the 700R4 to a 205, call Advance Adapters, im sure they have what you need. it was never offered from the factory that way. if you want to stick to readily available parts, and want to stick with the 700R4, look into a 208 or a 241. still reasonably strong cases for aluminum chain driven units.

Nope. I have a 3/4 ton 14 Bolt Blazer. Looks like you're good to go.

This is what Jeff - 'red71cheyenne' said when I asked him "Yes, the linkage swapped straight across. I just took the shift lever off the th350 and put it on the 700r4. Same, same."

yes the shift lever is the same. your shift pattern on the collum is differrent.
i put a 2004r in my 72 3/4 sub when i converted it. the diff between the 700r4 and the 2004r the 2004r doesnt have a removable tail shaft for the
adapter for the transfer case. good tranny, havnt had any problems with it.
