Rear differential cover & some progress

Cover came off easy as did the gasket (in one piece even). Can you clean off the gasket sealer with a drill and wire wheel brush? I am so old that Permatex was the gasket sealer of choice in my day. What is the new and improved sealant now? Kind of excited to be putting things back together but still have a long way to go (body work). Got front sway bar on yesterday, have three shocks on (broken rear upper stud), rear drum brakes almost done (had to order the brake spacer springs) that do not come in the kit. Frame is done except under cab. New long block coming middle of July. At my age taking this final restoration slow.

The best stuff I have found to seal the diff cover is Permatex 81182. It's made specifically for use with gear oil.
