Are there any decent aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks?
Ever since my Factory telescoping mirrors broke (one shattered, the other stopped telescoping), I've been looking at aftermarket mirrors. I tried one pair that mimicked the the 2015+ style mirror, but it is impossible to be use the passenger side mirror. After reading the product reviews, this seems to be an issue with all aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks. I guess I could bite the bullet and pay the $900 for another set of factory telescoping mirrors, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't another option. Thanks.

On my friends 90 1 ton, we used a pair from a 2002 or 2003 . Had to drill one of the holes, but they fit the window. His were repops of the original GM mirrors that would have come on those trucks.

Did he have trouble seeing out the passenger side mirror? I'm trying to put gmt800 mirrors on a gmt800. Logic tells me this would work nicely, reality tells me different. It would be pretty strange if 800 mirrors worked better on a 400 than an 800.

Both sides work real well for viewing. His is a flatbed.

Re: Are there any decent aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks?
Oh, the flatbed probably helps a lot. I just settled for the OE tear drop style mirrors. I also got some quick detach towing extensions that are made for the tear drop mirrors. I'm happy with this set up. I would have liked to have actual tow mirrors, but I never could find a pair I could see out of or was willing to pay for. Thanks for the input everyone. Overall I'd say if your rich, get the $1000 boot style mirrors (better have more money available later, because the motors in them like to go out.) If you want value for the dollar, get the OE style power and heated "tear drop" or "sport" mirrors (mine were $75 for the pair) and the $30 towing extensions made for them. If you aren't bothered by the looks, you can leave the extensions on full time, but I only snap them on when needed.

Re: Are there any decent aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks?
These are what my friend used. He found them off craigs list years ago. I would imagine anything from 99-07 classic would work since I have swapped the 1/2 tone mirrors between all these years. Between he and I driving it, we've never actually needed to extend them. Only trailor we pull though is an open flatbed car hauler.
They are WAY better than the factory ones that came on the 1-ton. This place still lists them, bout 150 a pair http://monsterautoparts.com/CHEVROLE..._mirrors_3.htm

I've ever seen those style mirrors before. If I ever go through this again, they may be worth a look.

I don't have a great pic, but I ditched the factory telescoping mirrors for this style. I think they were $75 on ebay. I like the convex mirror at the bottom like the Kenworths I used to drive. Visibility is good and the glass doesn't shake like the old ones.

Grease Monkey, how does that passenger side look? I tried mirrors like that, and no amount of adjustment could allow to see out of the passenger side. So far the the OE teardrop style, and the super expensive OE electric telescope style are the only ones I can see the passenger side with.

Re: Are there any decent aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks?
I can see fine out of the passenger side, though the glass is angled in pretty far. I also sit with the seat all the way back due to my height and that will change the mirror angle too. If my wife drives the truck (she's about a foot shorter than me), she has to angle it in even farther but she can still see. Of course, she doesn't really use mirrors just like most southerners anyway.

Re: Are there any decent aftermarket tow mirrors for these trucks?
I have the 15 style on my 04. I can see fine out the passenger side. I really like them actually. My only complaint would be they don't mount level to the ground, but at an upward angle. Which seems to be the way all the aftermarket mirrors are for this body style.
