1966 Factory AC Charge Amount

Anybody know the R12 charge capacity for a factory system?

Thanks!

Re: 1966 Factory AC Charge Amount

They are generally 3 point something pounds. There should be a sight glass in the drier that you can watch. It's charged if there are no bubbles of refrigerant. If the system wasn't evacuated properly there will be residual air that will show as bubbles, as well. Your best bet is to put in 2 pounds and then start the system running and check temperatures and pressures until it's charged. You will probably need a fan pushing air into the condenser to keep the pressures down.
