Tailgate trim

Got a new to me gate yesterday.
Has holes for trim top and bottom.
My gate has the center band on it.
So I guess my question is will it all fit together?
And look right.

Re: Tailgate trim

Your gate is the original 68 gate that only has upper trim. The band was added. The gate you just got is correct upper and lower trim for 69-72 mouldings. Just add the holes for the band.

Re: Tailgate trim

My gate is a 71 I believe.
When was the disk brake sticker on the gate 71?
Remember the bed and gate aren't original anymore.

Re: Tailgate trim

I’m thinking that only 72 Blazer or Jimmy had the bright lower molding in addition to the bright upper molding and a wood grain band.

Re: Tailgate trim

Can tell tailgate years by stamping marks on back side.

I agree with Pete on this. Only Blazer and Jimmy had the band and lower trim together.

Re: Tailgate trim

Rather not fill a bunch of holes so
I've ordered the 3 pieces of trim from mar k

Now the the next decision is wood grain or black in behind the letters. The side trim is black I'm leaning to flat black

Yep! That is correct. At least from what I've seen over the last 25 years enjoying these trucks. For my restoration, I found a new take-off tailgate that only had trim holes for upper and lower trim. I am dead set on adding my tailgate band, and I've always liked the extra bling that the Blazers donned. So, like you, I am adding all the pieces, and yes, as pointed out by Pete, they'll fit

I'd match it. As Yoda would say, "If have you black, then black it is."

Re: Tailgate trim

On second thought, when you say side trim, do you mean upper or lower? Because that changes things. If you have lower black, then I personally would get a black band. If you don't have lower, and only have upper, which of course has the inlaid black striping, either would work. Looking at the picture of your old gate and band, it appears to be woodgrain? Or is it just my bad eyes...

Re: Tailgate trim

The trucks a hodge podge of a 71-ish bed and a 68.
Thinking black band would match

But also considering something like this one. Have a bunch of rust repair in the rocker and cab corners. But really afraid of the can of worms that could turn into
