Exhaust Smell In Cab
Bought my truck in 2015. Had original exhaust manifolds and single exhaust. I could smell exhaust in cab when stopped at stop sign and red lights. Driving I do not smell it. Since then, both manifolds have been replaced. Most recent, Friday, had complete new dual exhaust from manifold to rear bumper and still have exhaust smell. I am at a loss as to where smell is coming from. Using AC or not, still have it. Any suggestions?

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
Are you sure it's exhaust or is it oil burning on the manifolds?

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
Check for small fuel leaks, especially the fuel pump. Fuel vapor can smell very close to exhaust by the time it gets into the cab.

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
were do they exit ? side or out the back ?
i know on blazers and suburbans with the rear window down if you have out the back the smell will come swirling right back in at you bad . i prefer side for this reason and less prone to smashing it up if you back up or drop in to far with a ditch ( 4x4 trucks for me )

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
Maybe it’s not exhaust.
Could be crankcase fumes. Do You have a working pcv system? |

Yes, I have pcv connected to carb on left side. Breather on right side. Cleaned pcv valve and getting new one in a couple of days. Had to order.

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
You can check for exhaust leaks with the engine off pretty easily with a shop vacuum. Tape it to your exhaust tip (and plug up the other one if you have dual exhausts with a cross-over) and set the vacuum to blow. This will pressurize your exhaust and then you can go around with soapy water spray looking for leaks.

Re: Exhaust Smell In Cab
I would check your carb and see if it is running to rich. If carb is running rich it will have that nasty thick exhaust smell. If you can smell it just by standing next to truck, then it might be the carb and it needs adjustment.Heat riser is gone on passenger side correct?
