Tach on steering column

I have an 84 C10 and want to put a tach on the steering column. I am not looking for a huge racing tach with a shift light, just a smaller one to monitor rpms.
What are you using and where did you get it?
Thanks!

Re: Tach on steering column

Got my tach from Speedhut, simple 6k tach mounted in an early Sun Tach cup (tach is designed as an in-dash unit)

Re: Tach on steering column

I have a cheap one from O'Reilley's.About $39.00.
It's 2/2.5" I think. Pretty small but easy to read.

i have been using these for years with zero problems . there 2 3/4" and can bolt down or feed a hose clamp threw and around the steering column . i find them for good deals on ebay a lot of the time.

Re: Tach on steering column

Here is the one I used in my 81. I had a SuperTach, but it quit on me. That was the second time one failed on me so I found a cheapie on ebay and it works great. for $15 I could not complain. Seems accurat and been running great for a year now.

Re: Tach on steering column

The Super Tach II from Summit is about as cheap as they get and works fine.

This has been my go to but I put it under the right side of the column, there is a screw where the dash makes a turn. Keeps it out of the way of feet as well. Like this in both of my square bodies (my 70 has a factory tach in the dash).
