Anybody known minimum thickness for drum brake and pads

Does anybody know what the minimum thickness on drum brake and pads would be for 1968 Chevy C10 ?

There should be a number on the face of the rotor, that you can see, when removing the tire. The drums have a number, also...

There is really no min on the pads, 1/8" is a practical limit. I don't usually like mine to wear that far...

Drums are traditionally marked noting the maximum diameter.. For instance: a 10 inch drum would be marked "Maximum dia. 10.090".. Rotors will have similar markings relating to minimum thickness..

Riveted brake shoes are considered worn beyond safe usage when the lining is worn down to the rivets.. Bonded shoes should be replaced when the thickness is 3/16" or less. I haven't seen riveted disc brake pads in many, many years, but there may be some still out there. Same applies to them, replace before the rivets make contact with the rotor.. Bonded pads should be replaced at the 1/8 - 3/16" dimension....

Re: Anybody known minimum thickness for drum brake and pads

I first read this as the OP was asking for Drum/Disc Brake Shoe/Pad Material Thickness not the Drum/Rotor. If this is the case, then I think mfg recommends it is to be around 6mm or 1/4"; but I think some people let it go till around 3mm or 1/8" without issue.

If you were in fact asking about the Drums and Rotors themselves then yes it is stamped on the the Drum or Rotor.

No rivets on my brakes pads. It looks like they are held on there some other way.

They are adhesively bonded.

If talking about drums, the diameter cast in is the discard dimension. A drum should not be turned to that diameter and then used, since subsequent wear will increase the inside diameter past that discard depth.
