1960 Chevy Apache Question About Paint and Body Repair
After getting everything mechanically sound I'm ready to have someone paint it and fix the body of 60 Apache . I don't want to pimp it out, I want it to look like it originally did.
My questions are 1) general cost? 2) how can I save on that cost? 3) I'm in no rush, are there retired guys who do this on the side at their own pace? 4.) Any recommendations of anyone to do this work in Colorado? Thank you in advance |

Quote:
Paint work is VERY labor heavy and is mostly prep work. Spraying paint is the last and somewhat easiest part of the complete process. That being said, materials alone can be well over $3k for quality products. If there is not any real body damage or rust on a 1960 truck (I doubt it), a decent repaint around here would set you back $15k or more. A local show type job closer to $30k and a full on show paint and body work by an established shop, $60k. If you want to take the time to learn it yourself, I can point you to a couple of forums, but you will need to invest in both tools and time, besides the materials cost. But that truck is a great one to learn on. You can always try to find a local guy who will do side work then have a Miracle shoot the paint. But if you don't know what you are looking for you can get screwed money wise real quick.

What EricU said /\ /\ /\
Having to pay someone to do ALL the work is very expensive.

The patina thing is what you have a truck with worn paint and rust and sometimes clearcoated to help save the worn paint and rust LOL what amazes me is that sometimes they will sell for more then one that has been panted
