72 stance
Thanks for adding me to the forum and this is my first post but I've used the info. lots spread out throughout the site. This is my 72 I bought recently. It's had some issues I've worked on and I just had all the coils springs replaced to help (I thought) the stance and lean. Now I'm wondering if it has been warped some considering the plates welded on the frames. Wondering if anybody had any thoughts about what to look at next to get it somewhat straighter. The bed is lower on the drivers side as the pic shows from the rear and there is a about 1 1/2 difference in tire to fender well height. Each side has these plates cut out and welded on the frame as shown. Why Im not sure unless it was to correct a twist or provide extra load capacity. Any ideas?

It's pritty common for the beds to not be totally strait with the cap. Yours looks like it is exaggerated a bit. You could add some spacers to rase the one side up. Just a thought

Nice truck. I suspect the frame is twisted. Kinda baffled about the plates. The frame doesn't look rusty and if the plates were to correct the problem they should have corrected the problem before welding up. Just adding plates after the fact only serves to assure it stays crooked and make it more difficult to correct. I'm not sure how they go about checking on a rack with body on, but if that is possible I would start with having that checked and hopefully corrected

The plates have had me wondering whether it could have had something too heavy dropped in the left rear corner as thats where the drop is the largest or maybe an accident and a bad straighten job. Just never run across that before. There was no rust and the frame doesnt look bent up. I reckon I can shim it more level but I really wish I new why it was like that. Kinda doubtful on this truck from what Ive seen on it that it was ever set up for street racing Thanks for the ideas all
