Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Looking for a 15x8 steel 6 lug wheel that will accept a dog dish hub cap. Has anybody ran these? Were there any issues with dog dish hub caps or full wheel covers fitting?

You will have no problems mounting hubcaps or wheel covers on those standardized steel wheels. Yes, wheels were once standardized and these are replicas of the old standard wheels

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Thank you for the response. My concern stems from people on Corvette Forum having issues getting their wheel covers on their repro wheels.

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Those wheels do not fit our trucks. Got some incorrect information from the forum. The backspacing does not work. They hit the tie rod ends. You need 3.75 backspacing for them to work. They can custom make them for a little more money.

I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for the heads-up.

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
I just ordered one of these. Summit shows a selection for 3.75" back spacing in the 15 inch so I picked that one.
I did confirm on my original 1970 steelies that the backspacing is indeed 3.75" These wheels have the nubs so you can pop on the OE hubcaps; so they are not the truck rallies as far as I can tell; so in my book these must be relatively new because I had looked in prior years and given up. The only thing I didn't check that I think is important is did they make them hubcentric like the originals..Since I'm just buying one I thought I'd take a flyer and see once they get here. Here is the skippy from Summit today: WVI-62-5606334 Wheel, Ford/Chevy O.E. Style, Steel, Primered, 15 in. x 6 in., 6 x 5.50 in. Bolt Circle, 3.75 in. Backspace, Each (Mfr. #: 62-5606334) it was I think $88 plus state tax delivered Last edited by Gromit; 06-25-2019 at 11:46 PM. Reason: thing |

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
iut doesn't look like theye not hubcentric at all except for a 4x4. and im thinking the 3 nub indicates they will not clear disk brakes as well

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
I have them on my 69 Blazer. They worked on it but the inside of the rim is very close to the tie rod end - 1/8” clearance or less. I put longer studs in my front hubs in anticipation of running 1/4” spacers but ended up not needing them by a whisker. I had to make sure the two I used up front ran true because although brand new all 4 did not and a couple had a slight wobble. 3.75” backset would have been better and they should make them at regular price not an up charge.

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Here are photos of the wheel that came today. I realize the O.P. was asking about the 8 inch wide version of these and this is the six inch; but I hope not too off topic as it is presumably the same center.
I did confirm this new version is not hub centric. The center hole on the vintiques is at least 3/4" larger and it lacks the 90 degree circular reinforcing bend that the OE wheels have (see photo) It is still am improvement over the wheel I was using as a spare because it has the hubcap nubs; so for $88 I'm glad this type of steelie has come back; and thanks to the OP for posting the question that sent me looking for them. It would be interesting to compare the load ratings per wheel for the OE and this one - I haven't found the spec for either yet. p.s. the photo with the caliper makes it look like the ID measurement is off by a half inch - that is to do with the camera angle - it is maybe 2mm - I would guess the dimension is about 4-1/8" Last edited by Gromit; 06-28-2019 at 12:29 AM. Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Had the tire off my 1970 C10 OE wheel so I can share some more photos of it next to or compared to the Vintiques Mfgr's Part Number 62-5606334
The hubcap does fit the Vintiques center that I think will be the same center used on the 8 inch wide 'special order' Vintiques. The centers are fillet welded on the Vintiques (only visible from back) vs the OE that were spot welded on my wheels. I didn't weigh the wheels but they seem very similar just picking them up. This is kind of beyond the topic of the thread but for anyone with the 5-1/2 stockers wanting to replace a single wheel I think you would want to buy at least a pair of these because the narrowest Vintiques I see available is 6 inches wide whereas my 1970 stock steelies are 5-1/2 wide. Maybe someone can weigh in on whether it would be advisable to run one 6 inch rim when the other three are 5-1/2 The center hole is 4-1/4 on the Vintiques and 3-1/2 on the OE. Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
More photos - also I should have mentioned the Vintiques wheel is on the left in the above photos.
This is just to show the stock wheel and the centers measured a little better. One other minor difference - on the OE wheel the valve stem hole is oriented even with one of the hubcap nubs whereas the Vintiques has the valve stem hole clocked between them if that makes sense. |

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
Gromit, I appreciate the pics and I'm sure they will help others.
I found a set of CUCV 15x8 wheels in the parts classified and bought them. Both the wheels and our new Blazer should be delivered by the end of the week. Thanks again for sharing your experience with the aftermarket wheels.

And since this lug pattern is a GM lug pattern, why did they not give them the Chevy backspace and hub bore? Dumb stuff! The Japanese, which is a metric nation, light trucks used this pattern.m Everything on those trucks was metric except the SAE lug pattern. Like I said, this pattern is GM's.

Re: Has anyone ran these 15x8 6 lug wheels?
The responder above who mentioned a couple of his new Vintiques wheels had a slight wobble -
I did wonder how Vintiques could run those four big long arc welds from the center to the hoop without the wheel getting somewhat twisted up or distorted due to the heating and cooling cycle? The stock wheel has just two (or 3) relatively small spot welds on each of the four flats of the center; so I would think much less of a chance to get heat distortion, but I don't know much about welding these days. |
