I would not remove the VIN tag. That is actually a Federal crime to remove a VIN tag from a Vehicle. Just cover it with 1 layer of good masking tape and then a couple layers of good duct tape and it will be fine.

That's not quite what I'm saying.
If he removes the tag and someone happens to see it when it is at the blasters and decides to be an asshat. Some people are like that. Also if at some time the truck needs to have a VIN inspection. The inspector might notice. Here in Idaho, of the state vehicle inspector suspects that something may not be right about the VIN or the vehicle in general, they can confiscate it and it could be crushed. Quote:
