47-55.1 Inner fender? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I got to put the front end on the truck for the first time, while test fitting the motor and tranny. The inner fender on the drivers side does not fit. Where it is supposed to bolt to the firewall, it is about 3" short of reaching it.

This is looking down from the top. The inner fender is the rusty part, the "primed" metal is the cab.

You can see how short it is. I'm wondering if it came from a GMC instead of a Chevy.

Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like you got a bracket missing. They had one for the drivers side. I'll see I can find a pic...Jim

Found a couple pics from when I had mine about from the deer wreck.

This bracket was a brace for parking park and inner fender attachment.

1st pic shows the bracket, has black rubber where fender bolts to bracket

2nd pic shows inner fender attached.

Thanks Jim. Since I didn't take it apart, I had no idea. Just glad I didn't start on that side yesterday or I would have had a bad day. I'll look and see if it's in the parts stash, if not, thanks for the lead on getting it.

Yeah Jan, everything is throwing me for a loop! Being the newbie and doing all this for the first time ever is interesting.

I found it! I knew it was for the brake, but didn't realize it tied the inner fender to the cab too.
