Should I buy this "six-banger" ?

There's this (supposedly) rebuilt 292-six for sale for 600.00 and the according to casting # it's out of a 73-84.

The guy has several other motors too....all V-8s, and says that it was unclaimed by the owner after the rebuild. I'm thinkin' if this puppy was done "professionally" then @ 600.00 it's a good deal, but "spidee senses" say what if it's not legit.

BTW, will this 292 swap out ok for my present and would it be worth it to swap it out to get a fresh runner in there. The orginal motor runs really strong but is tickin' and tapin, despite a recent valve adjustment.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks...

Watch out for integral head/manifolds on the newer motors. You can't do a thing with them performance-wise. Good news is an earlier ['63-'73] head will bolt on enabling you to use headers, aftermarket intakes, 4 barrel carbs, etc.
If you just want a stock runner until you can build your dream engine, that's possibly a fair price. It should drop right in w/o much sweat.
