I'm restoring a 71 K5 CST. I am basically replacing everything under the hood except the engine block. Right now I have the complete nose off, the alternator, water pump, valve covers, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, etc... I also have a brand new wiring harness from Painless. At what point should I start putting it in? Is it easier to do now with everything off, or will it be better after everything is back in new?

I would wait until everything that gets a wire to it is installed, and everything that a wire is hung on or routed through is in place.

Curious, I was speaking with a Rod Shop in Springfield last weekend about a painless wiring. They told me they dont' come with the GM connectors you have to supply them yourself. I checked KOI here a parts place and they don't have them. Where would you get the GM Connectors for your wipers dash etc. ?????

Charlie,
The harness I got comes with the GM connectors, and is specifically built for the 67-72 pickups and blazers. I guess it is the universal harness with the GM connectors. I can't wait to get it in there.

Put a Painless kit in a Jeep a few weeks ago. Nice product, has work flawlessley.

I used an ac painless harness in my blazer very easy. You might want to search back though there was a post a month or so back on the front harness and something was different with one of the light connections and someone was explaining which wires were wrong and had to be switched, nothing major though. would definetly save you some time

I am pretty sure that where I read about it was on the message board I will start you a post over there and see if you can find those guys so check on the post

I did a search for the entire board. I don't think the searches are working right since the face lift.
