Re: Does this speedo look familiars?

i have had a lot of bugs and never noticed the similarity, but its a big similarity. I liked the bug speedo because it had all the warning lights you needed in it too, oil light, battery light, tachometer (the red lines on the speedo tell you when to shift into which gear so technically a tacho) turn signals, high beam.

Joedoh, that was my thought also, swap the vw with the AD and you have warning, signal and high beam indicators and the vw gauge is cheaper! Lol

Re: Does this speedo look familiars?

VW copied a LOT on those cars. It is said that they came to America and got a 36 Ford and a 39 Ford and took them back to Germany and dissected them. I know those early Fords real well and it's mind blowing how many things they used that were on those Fords. How about the first VW how it had no vent wing, but a window that had a gap at the front so you lowered the glass a tad and it opened up just the front of the glass, not the to-34-39 Ford, the horn grilles on the front fenders-36 Ford, the glass covered head lights-37-39 Ford, the steering wheel-40 Ford, the bumpers, 39-40 Ford, the bolt pattern on the wheels, this one blows me away, one of just a couple cars on earth with that bolt pattern-35-39 Ford, the split rear window-38-40 Ford and these things weren't just generic through all cars of the time, some of these parts, hell the doors on a bug, you could post a photo of one on ebay and say it's a '39 Ford and sell it! It was crazy how much they copied the Ford.

Re: Does this speedo look familiars?

Think they would swap pretty easily? I like the look and all the lights included...
