Elect short !! Help
Edit: #1 solved = see post below
1. Since I first started - my front park lights don't come on, or are very faint. They do blink bright when signal is on, but I have the indicator of both lights out --- (where the turn both signal lights on the dash stay lit up when the headlight switch is on). 2. Ok, this just started --> when I turn the key to on position, my wipers start going, and the wiper switch is in the off position. I noticed that my electric choke was tapped off the wire to the wiper motor. When I unplug the wire to the choke my wipers stop ? HELP SOS Last edited by Nvbowtie; 06-06-2004 at 03:55 PM. |

I had a similar problem to your #1, my signal indicators stayed on also, I tracked the problem down to the signal wiring on the rear tailights. I guess it's some kinda of safety or something??? I think also that the front signal bulbs my not be seated properly or they could be the wrong bulbs..... it's a start anyways.

Sounds like a ground problem. The circuit is looking for a proper ground and when it finds a pathway it causes that part to run also. I would start wtih the carb wire and isolate it, then I would look at the ground circuit for the turn signals/park lights. The windshield wipers may fix them selves once you have the wires all where they belong.

wiring trouble
this may sound kinda stupid but i had similar trouble and the way I isolated the problem ground was to take a test light and checked each ground until I found where the power was going and corrected the previous owners goof probably not the most effi cient way but I got a truck that does not drain my battery anymore !!

I had a problem with the turn signal indicators staying on and no front park lights in a van I have. After much ado, I figured out it was a front turn signal socket. I checked the sockets many times and never could really see anything wrong with them. I finally got fed up and replaced them anyway. Problem solved.
I think if you wire up the choke right and get it off the wiper motor wiring, this will fix that too.

Ok #1 parking lights is solved.
It was a bad ground connection in both turn sockets, where the ground plugs into the side of the socket. It was a good ground to sheet metal, just not in the socket. I cut of a strand of twisted copper speaker wire and bent it into a U shape and put it in the socket then plugged the male spade into it making a good ground connection. Now on to problem #2 and my courtesy light: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=106928 . . . |
