I was told today that a 4x4 had a 1” element then a 2 wheel drive. He said a 4x4 is 3.5” tall and a 2 wheel drive is 2.5” tall. Do you know if this is correct and if so do you know what this one came off of?

Tell your source he is wrong.
2wd and 4wd are the same, at least on this style which is for sure 71-72. Its probably the same for 69-70 small block too. 69 big blocks I’ve had do have a shorter riser.

Yes and its the taller one in the picture above, the last air cleaner was sold without that part. So this is the air cleaner lid and base with the riser, the riser has the rubber hose, clamps and valve cover fitting as pictured above.
