Spare tire under bed

What if any parts am I missing to the Spare tire holder for Under the bed?
There is a slot in the end that drops down to allow the cylindrical nut with the hole in it to release the rack.
Any parts missing?

Pretty sure that's everything. I'd check mine but it's away in paint prison.

Re: Spare tire under bed

I think I might be missing a washer that goes just above the nut with the hole in it.
is there a factory diagram?

This is all really good stuff - I would love to find one! Are there any aftermarket?

Re: Spare tire under bed

LMC and probably most other vendors sell most, if not all, the components.

Re: Spare tire under bed

Has anyone adapted the winch type spare hanger from an 88 and later truck to our trucks? It looks easy enough to do and you'd no longer have to lift the tire and rack up with one arm while guiding the bolt through that hole with the other hand. Just a thought.

Re: Spare tire under bed

I removed my spare for the first time since I bought it in '01. Not sure how having it it in all those years was any different that carrying none. I don't want to put it back, but maybe a winch type I'd do.

I'm not a big fan of the stock tire carrier. You could whip up something like I did on the cheap. I've got $20.00 something bucks invested in this. The winch came of a Mitsubishi truck. Some scrap metal, little welding, some bolts & nuts, and no more cussing the stock set-up! I set it up so the crank rod is on the passenger side of the truck. Painted it yellow so I can find it in the tool box.

Re: Spare tire under bed

Am guessing likely a safety retention in case the weld fails. Good idea. Nice setup yuccales. I've been planning something similar on mine for some time - but I like your idea about passenger side access - looks like it would be accessible just in front of the right rear tire?? Now that's thinkin my friend, and eliminates my hole in the bumper dilemma!

Peace of mind. JIC my 4 welds break. Been several years now, all is good. Best thing is, I've not had to use it!

Jocko, just behind the rear tire. The handle, crank and jack are out of a mid '90's Blazer.
