Missed it by that much ...

My last four trucks have been lwb K-Trucks. I’m not slamming my daily, it’s serving me well. Sometimes it does lack “real” truck carrying capacity. These swb bed sides don’t quite fit, and that’s weird because I always thought the swb 67-72 trucks were ok, but not really that useful. Look at me now lol

Re: Missed it by that much ...

Useful up to a point. After that 2' less useful and more. A Suburban can haul more than a SWB truck. My thing was always hauling aluminum, then vinyl siding in 12' boxes. No problem with a longbed. Drop tailgate to gain a 10' deck with a mere 2' hanging out. Suburban is the same. I wouldn't even attempt that in a SWB. It would be a teeter totter and material would kink. That's only 12' material. You 'can' haul 16' lumber in a LWB with tailgate down, although not legally and not my style. In a SWB you'd be 50% in truck and 50% out the back... no go for sure. I don't get all these contractors running ext shortbeds these days. I rely on a 12' ladder rack on my LWB. With a SWB you'd be right back to 50% of rack bearing in bed and 50% hanging out over the cab & clip. It's enough stress as it is cantilevering 4' over the cab.

Nice parts!

Parts are just OK. Those are my best SWB bedsides and they aren't that great. They are gonna need enough work that a person might be ahead (my body working skills aren't that great) selling them to someone that has to have originals and pick up some repros.

Is your box a 6'5" or 5'6"? The 5'6" box I feel is to short. Cab space seems to outweighs box space now days and the standard cab lwb is a dying breed.

Isn't a Montana a mini van or something? He might think you hauled that engine in a Montana. Now that would be something to see! lol lol
