Exhaust heating up your floor?
I've noticed that the step face and front carpet trim can get toasty from exhaust heat and curious if others have noticed the same. My exhaust doesn't seem needlessly close to the floor pan. Maybe the AIR setup is superheating the exhaust?

I bet that makes it uncomfy in the heat you get in Wisconsin sometimes. is it humid where youre at too?
as for the heat. can you fab some sort of heat shield?

Mike you bet - I'm worried about my daughter burning her foot on the trim strip and don't like the idea of baking the rubber mat. I've not noticed the floor as warm in the two other Blazers I've owned. I suppose I could wrap sections of pipe with some heat shield.

Good thoughts thanks. I’ll check those variables out. Cold starts could be better - I need to check the choke but lean mixture may be contributing.

Headers or Manifolds?
I haven't gotten to this stage yet but when i add my sound deadening i plan to also add some dynaliner for heat control as well. |

OEM manifolds for the AIR CA emissions - all the emissions pieces are intact.

My '72 floor was pretty toasty too, but I had a custom exhaust that was tucked up a bit higher than the factory routing...
I'm not sure on my '71 - the console keeps me from feeling the floor too much...

Another heat source could be the heater core, mine continuously flowed through the valve, even a new one. Put an inline shutoff for the warm months, big difference

Let me know If you need a lead on a great wrap. I wrapped the header in my minibike chopper build as I burned my legs on it. Not surprising given that the header routed 2-3 inches from the seat...
Its cheap, on Amazon and works. I'll have to go and look it up if you're interested. |
