Hi All,
My first post, I traded a couple of guns for 64 step side. I have pulled the motor and transmission and am going over numbers. The owner told me it had a 327 but I don't think it is. The numbers, from what I can find, come up as 350.
I plan to rebuild it regardless. I am new to this and have a few questions.
1. Is there a way to tell what the trucks original engine and transmission was?
2. Is there a way to ad AC? I am in SC and its hot on Sundays.

3. Regardless of how it came from the factory has anyone put a three-speed on
the column?
4. Where can I find some detailed original pictures so I have an idea how
moded this old girl has been.

Welcome to the forum

There is no way to tell what engine and trans the truck came with from the factory unless you can find the build sheet. Except for '66 which was the first year for the SPID tags. But often times those are missing. The casting number as well as the suffix code on that engine will tell you what it cubic inch it is. Since you are going to rebuild the engine, what the engine came from and it's original HP rating is irrelevant.

Yes you can add A/C and even have it look factory if you desire.

I imagine you can convert to 3 OTT if you want, but you will have to find all of those components used.

I recommend checking out the '60-'66 FAQ section. It will have numerous listings of threads to answer all of your questions.

I can help you with power steering and power brakes if that is on your list of upgrades. I make the components to make it happen.

Welcome to the forum!
Your truck would have come with 6 lug wheels originally, so you probably already have disc brakes swapped in for the front That's nice to have, and I would keep it that way. 5 lug gives you better options for aftermarket wheels if that's where you want to go
