Re: '72 K/30 Longhorn Conversion

Thanks to you guys and Steeveedee specifically I found that the intake/exhaust gasket was broken for the runner feeding cylinder 5 & 6 causing a massive vacuum leak. After replacing the gasket including remaining the connecting surfaces were back up and running on all cylinders!

Here is how its running now: https://youtu.be/Pocn6DxMCxk

Now time to get it out on the road as my daily to work out the other kinks. OH and I also entered in my first car show Peggy Sues Cruise in Santa Rosa!

Re: '72 K/30 Longhorn Conversion

Alright so its been a while again but we have some updates.

First off I got some SWEET new TAWNKAA plates for the truck. I know there yellow and black and they are not year correct but they match the color scheme of the truck.

Also got some new shoes! Went with 17" Mickey Thompson Classics (1st Gen) i found on CL and mounted my 35" x 12.5 BFG KM2s on them. Love the more classic look it gives.

Got a new premium floor mat installed with more sound deadening which has helped a lot with the road noise, got the kit from LMC and i am really happy with it! Now i just need a to get my transfer case shifter bracket made for the 205 to NV4500, i dont like what Advanced Adapter makes so i am making my own.

I found some 6" KC lights for the roll bar, but Im still looking for the classic Yellow cover with the black KC logo to match the color scheme.

Scored a set of original Longhorn badges for the bed and used double sided gorilla tape to hold them on which has worked really well!

And finally I got to enter my first carshow! Peggy Sues Cruise in Santa Rosa which was a blast and now has me more addicted.

OHHHHH yeah... i also picked up Tawnkaa a little brother. 1970 C10 Longbed but that is a different thread.

Right on brotha, I'll keep an eye out for ya. Also there's a bunch of us from Sonoma County heading up for the Intervention. We're going up Saturday morning. There's a cruise Sat night in Auburn. Trucks are looking great!

Re: '72 K/30 Longhorn Conversion

I finally got around to getting the front drive shaft legthend by Johnny Franklins in SR and got it installed. Then ducked over to the local 4wd parts store and picked up a set of Warn Premium Manual locking hubs to replace the original auto locking hubs which came with my Dana 60. Im really happy with how they look especially with that matching yellow color.

Finally the Tawnkaa is out of Faux-wheel drive and into Four Wheel Drive.

Now i just have to fabricate my 205 to NV4500 transfer cases shifter bracket. Im not a big fan of what Advanced Adapter has come up with so im gonna make my own.

Re: '72 K/30 Longhorn Conversion

What all did you use for that 4" lift kit? I want to make sure I have everything before I start tearing mine down. I have no idea what to do about the steering junk.

Are you just doing a lift? Or a 4x4 conversion? Big difference in parts.

I actually have an odd mix of parts to get where l liked it because it originally started out as a 6” lift

I had 6” tough country spring block combo in the back which original had 2” blocks which i removed. Then I got 4” lift springs for the front. I would then suggest a cross over steering kit from Off Road Design, i have one but had to remove it because it interfered with my custom 292 motor mount bracket. For now i have a 4” lift steering block to fix the steering angle but i still get a decent amount of bumper steer which is really annoying. You will also need new shocks and extended break lines.
