Idle/clutch issue
67 c20 v8. When i push the clutch in the motor revs real high. Truck hasn't been started in ten years

Could be a broken motor mount..watch the engine while you push in on the clutch.

Yeah. '67 (throttle linkage, not a cable) might be affected by a purely mechanical interference. That or you've got something bad wrong in the clutch/tranny that's causing a lot of drag.

I know it’s an old dead thread. Thought it was worth a shot, he might get an email notification and reply.
My truck has a cable. When I clutch in, (in or out of gear) the Rpms increase. I don’t have a tach, so I’m not sure by how much. I would guess 200-300 rpm increase from a clutch out and neutral idle. |

That was a common problem with the linkage rod if the rubber motor mounts were separated or broken, but not so much with the cable. That's why they changed them over. I would still check the engine and bell housing rubber mounts and see how they look. LockDoc

Thanks for the reply.
I’ll look it over for sure and have the wife work the clutch while I check for movement of the block. Any other known causes for a clutch in rise in RPM that I might look for? TIA |
