Dual headlights
Can someone share some pics or explain how to wire up my headlights on my 60. I apparently misplaced my wiring harness so I'm trying to do it with it. I found a pic of the wiring diagram from the factory but it doesn't make sense to me. I guess I'm confused by having 2 lights with 3 prongs on the back and 2 lights with 2 prongs.

Re: Dual headlights
One way to look at a four headlight system is the outer headlights function as a truck with a dual headlight system. One terminal is the low beam, the other is the high beam. The remaining one is the ground. Power from the dimmer switch feeds the headlights. On low beam, the low beam filament is powered. On high beam, the low beam filament turns off and the high beam filament turns on.
For the inner lights, they only have one filament hence the reason for only two terminals; ground and power. These terminals share the same circuit as the high beam filament terminals on the outer lights. So, for low beam operation, the outer light low beam filaments are powered. On high beam, the outer light low beam filaments turn off and the high beam filaments turn on along with the inner light filaments. Some of this explanation you probably already know. I just went from top to bottom on the operation description. |

Re: Dual headlights
That clears things up, I wasn't sure about the 3 prongs. I was thinking the driving lights on the outside turned off when the brights were turned on.

Re: Dual headlights
What do you mean by driving lights? Is that something specific to 60-63's?

Re: Dual headlights
Dhartley,
Several companies make a stock harness which is literally plug and play. Classic Parts https://www.classicparts.com/1960-61...ctinfo/52-561/ $29.99 Classic Industries https://www.classicindustries.com/pr...s/ct03340.html $59.99 I dont know why the price jumps up. they are made the same way.
