Cool

Hey 8mag, I'm using Skyjacker Softrides right now, and the ride is actually very good. I live down 3 1/2 miles of very rough gravel road, so it gets tested very well! One thing I did give up is load support in the bed? But I do plan on installing air bags in the rear, that way I have the best of both worlds!?!?
I noticed the spec's on your 1972, 3/4 4x4, 14bolt locker rear, dana60 and locker front, nv4500, 383, blazer tank, dual batterys, 4" lift, 285-75-16's. That’s pretty much exactly what I would like to do to mine! You don't by chance have any pics?

To some degree, a 3/4 ton is just going to be rough. I would start by getting some adjustable shocks and playing with those as well as dropping your tire pressure. I'm sure max load is at least 50 psi if not 65 on your tires. Try running them around 35 when you aren't carrying a load, maybe less. The bigger the tire, the less psi it needs. Another option for the rear would be a Velvet Ride Shackle combined with your existing springs.

I'd definately suggest greasable shackles all the way around, they not only can provide some lift and great suspension flex but helped rides in my 4x4ing vehicles a ton.
just my .02

Hey 8mag, did your truck have an automatic trans originally? If so how hard was the conversion to the NV4500?

truck was a 4spd originally used a dodge 4500 and had a shop do the work, not really worth the cash outlay, only gained 2 mpg from 12 to 14, when towing am in 4th gear anyways.
