Oil pump pressure
Could someone please tell me what psi a normal oil pump for a 350 smallblock should be pushing versus a high volume one?

Depending on the rpms, stock oil pressure should run between 20-60 PSI. High volume pumps may run up around 80 psi.

That's a really hard question to answer, too many variables. The high volume pump has longer rotors and pushes more oil per revolution. The pressure from the pump is internally regulated by a valve/spring. At idle, the high volume pump may have more pressure than the stocker but once you get high enough for the regulator to start cutting it down, it won't matter at all. A high volume pump may be able to keep the pressure up in an older motor with looser bearings but it would be better to fix that first.

I have a 10555 Melling on my 383(hy vol/hy pressure) It runs 80 psi @ idle cold, & settles to 40 psi @ idle hot, runs tween 65-70 psi hot @ 3000 rpms. A stock pump will generally run around 20 psi @ idle (hot), & 50 -55 @ 3000 revs (that is assuming fresh bearings). crazyL
