Cab gas tank removed..Ideas to fill space ?

I moved my tank to the rear on my 72 C-10 & have been wondering what to fill in the void at the back of my cab to give it a finished look. I am using bucket seats from a 97 GMC K-10, so the back of cab is quite visible. Thanks in advance for any ideas or pics of what you guys are using.

I also want to eventually relocate my tank and put in a flip over seat. I think I will leave it maily open for a couple bags for longer trips. Following this to see what people have done.

I know that I really like the setup in my 1990 which has a nice box with all tire changing equipment in it behind the passenger side. Takes up minimal space, actually one of the best designs I have ever seen. I will probably pull one of those from a junk yard truck and put it back there.

Yes...storage space would be good, but I kind of want it to blend into the interior of the truck also. I see some of the auto carpet companies sell a extended carpet to fit the floor when the gas tank is removed.

I have a bench type with fold down middle for console. Left and right main backs also fold down. I drive with the seat back and there is no room for any regular suitcase.

Its amazing how so much fuel took up so little space.

You happen to have a pic of your 90's tool box?

For anyone interested, StockInteriors.Com has a carpet to fit 67-72 trucks that have the tank removed..molded carpet #8004 for auto trans trucks. They also have a Rear Wall carpet #8006 to fit the back of the cab when tank is removed.

I would love to see a picture of that tool box too. I was thinking of getting a compact spare and mounting it in that space.

I cut a v shaped speaker box for mine. Plan on doing the same in the 68 stepper for my daughter truck. Used the gas tank nuts to hold it in place.
Just drilled the board and ran the bolt through.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Cab gas tank removed..Ideas to fill space ?

Be a good place for tool storage but I think it'd be awesome to have a really nice way to mount a gun rack behind there. Something that would accommodate anything from a hunting rifle or shot gun to an AK-47. Seems like a better idea than leaving it on floorboard or propped up in full view. Would also be a good idea to have a locking system that kept someone from being able to get to them while you run into store for a minute. Gun laws are crazy these days but if transporting your gun it'd be a safer way of protecting it. Just pull truck into garage load it up and take off to go to shooting range.

When that picture was taken it was a 40/60 90's model seat.

I now have 99 Tahoe bucket seats with heat 6 way electric with a blazer console. All my amps are in the console.
