Fleetsides with wood beds

Question: Were Fleetside wood bedfloors only for short bed trucks?

Did long bed fleetsides have wood floor beds?

A friend of mine says he doesn't think the lwb fleetsides ever had a wood bed, only the swb.

When were the wood beds discontinued? I know 73 and up didn't have wood.
But when did this stop?

Thanks for the quick replies. He argued back (sort of) with me on this a little. He never saw any lwb with wood. And he said after 66 he didn't remember them having wood. Which i told him I know the swb's did for sure. But not real sure on the lwb's, atleast not sure enough to argue the point.

Does your friend have access to the internet and a computer? If so point him this way. There is a lot of really good information and plenty of friendly people to talk with.

As mentioned before,All Longhorns were wood floor. The boards were from an 8`long bed w/short pieces sliced.Mostly you`ll find wood floors in camper rigs.I have two,a`71 CustomCamper/20(still original wood)and a`72 CheyenneSuper/20CustomCamper.Also,I owned a`78 C/30 Silverado CamperSpecial Dually PU with the wood floor option. That`s the latest I`ve seen.I don`t think it was the last year.It was probably when GM wiped-out options like tach and bucket seats.

I told him about this site, but he wouldn't exactly fit in with us. He is mostly a F**d person. He is a great guy though and is a Electro / Mechanical Engineer I guess you'd call him. He can fabricate dern near anything when he puts his mind to it. And is always working on projects. With atleast 10 or 12 F**ds on his property he of course stays busy. lol And his sons race car.
I know when I go to get my trucks engine rebuilt, I will go talk to him. He has done some pretty cool things with the vehicles he's had and they ran like they were been chased.

Thanks again for all of the replies on this.

my '69 4x4 has an original wood bed...i have heard that farm trucks were often ordered with it because cattle would not slip on the wood, but they would slip on the steel. also, all 67-72 stepsides had wood beds from the factory. I think 73+ is like this too, but not surefor how long.
