Spindle Question

Are the spindles from a 1950 straight axle the same as a 56-59? The reason I ask is: I found a set of 3/4 ton disc conversion brackets that the guy claims will fit from 47 to 59...…..

Re: Spindle Question

The 3/4 ton and 1 ton from 1947 to 1952 share the same spindle and 1953 to 1959 share the same spindle. The changes between the 1947-52 and 1953-59 spindle was the inner and outer wheel bearing size, the length of the kingpin and the change from huck brakes to bendix brakes. The holes for the backing plates however are in the same location so in theory a caliper bracket will fit 1947 to 1959 3/4 and 1 ton. There are two companies that I am tracking that sell a kit for the 3/4t and 1 ton, they are Nostalgia Sids and TSM Mfg Co. I haven’t heard of any feedback about those kits but they do have pics on their websites.

Re: Spindle Question

Thanks!! The problem with TSM and SIds is that you must buy the complete set, which adds a LOT to shipping costs. If they'd sell me everything but the rotors, calipers and pads, I'd order it in a minute!

Re: Spindle Question

I don't know of anyone selling just the brackets and small pieces for 3/4 ton.
