Are your wanting one from the junk yard, or a new one from summit?....

Done with junk yards. Figure something aroun 3000 cfm would do 16 x18 or 16" round would fit nicely. Old junkyard fan was 14" but had shoud. Think off a Taurus. Been in there since before the turn of th century.

What I did was look on summit and they have cfms and dimensions listed....i pick the biggest i can fit...
On my C30 I did a dual fan setup one comes on at 175deg the other comes on at 185deg On the IH I used one big single fan... The C30 has straight blades and the IH has curved blades...I've been told the curved blades are quiter..we'll see....

Re: Electic Fan replacement for 54 w/ 350
Was the Taurus fan effective? Are you happy with the way it was mounted? A number of companies sell replacement OE Taurus fans. We have used Caravans in our fleet for years and some of them have a very large fan as well. Front + rear A/C on hot day plus big transmission cooler requires a good fan.
We have many electric fans in our fleet. The bus A/C condensers that mount on the roof or under the vehicle use aftermarket fans while all of the front wheel drivers and now even some of the rear drivers are equipped with OE electrics. We change far fewer OE fans than aftermarket fans. So whenever someone asks about an aftermarket fan I can't help but wonder how long they will last. |

BINGO! Replaced with same type and kind!! Got a brand new OEM 1995 Taurus fan. Copied some small relief cuts i made in back in 1996!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. And installed. Due to memory loss i finally remembered the guys saying this was the best hod rod fan ever! Its a two speed but run it on high with a 60 amp relay. With its built in shroud it sucks hard and will blow your hat off!! Best part was under $60 shipped, from a private seller who only had the one. Also cheep on rock auto Can highly recommend this one as it served me well for 25 years and really does the job. Forget that other junk. Thanks all. |

I am running a taurus fan. It does the job but I would buy a Spal Fan if I were to do Over.
