I'm traveling with my friend, Charlie, who's taking a 71 Chevelle wagon to sell.

Nah, my buddy brought it home. We left about 11:30. We don't really care that much if they sell or not, it gets us in early Saturday for the best deals and easier shopping. I got most of the stuff on my list Saturday (shop supplies), found the rest early, went by the Truck shop on Sunday, walked the aisles and went home. Didn't seem that many vehicles changed hands, looked like a lot of people took the same stuff home that the brought. Crowd seemed light, maybe gas prices have people scared?

I hear ya, I got a dash pad, armrests, and a tach/vacumn dash conversion from truck shop, a corvette 3 spoke steering wheel for $50, walked the cars for sale section, nobody was selling, some of the trucks were way overpriced.
The muscle cars were sporting back east pricing, there were'nt any deals whatsoever.
Oh well, there's always next month

Nobody asked the price of the wagon. Sometimes we take a project car over and everyone buys finished stuff. Sometimes we bring finished stuff and everybody wants projects. My friend's record is 3 in a row, sold 3 times straight. That was about 2 years ago. Lately, it's hardly worth taking off the trailer.
P.S. we didn't do the paint work on that wagon!

I know what you mean Bill, I've gotten some great deals on project cars, bought a straight 69 Z-28 a couple years ago for 6 grand, now the original motor was long gone, but had 69 L-68 400hp tri-power corvette motor in pieces and original muncie included, the car was sold for $8500 and now resides in minnesota, and I still have the 427, in fact its in your neck of the woods, in storage in prescott valley where my brother lives
I'll still go to search out 69 camaro's, as I really regret selling that car

Let me know if your looking for anything special, and I'll try to give you some leads

Likewise, my friend!

I have a friend (the guy who owns the wagon) who owns a GM only salvage yard. He bails me out on projects all the time. Let me know if you need anything, I'll try and help here.

Nothing GS that I know of, but plenty of Buick stuff. He just sold a NICE 71/2 Skylark, 455, T400, buckets, console car. It was QUICK.

I like the buicks, own a 69 stage 1 4sp-(1 of 415), and a 70 stage 1 auto, bought the 70 in 1984 for $700 and the 69 for $900 in 1986, both here in socal, both # matching

Oh Im sure, but mine are finally starting to get some value, the upper teens to low 20's, but still far behind the 442's, GTO's, and SS chevelle "A" body's.
I really dont get it, the 70 is a rocket ship, and rides like a cadillac. Oh well I didnt buy them for investment purposes, I bought them to drive. And if I do ever sell the 70, I'll just replace it with a 69 RS Z28, ya baby!

Well, then you are a lot closer to Pomona than I am! Was an 8 hr drive home Sunday. Of course, where you are, it could have been for you, too. I'm stunned with the activity I got on my Chevelle. I didn't have a for sale sign in it at DelMar, but people wanted to buy it all day long.

Im about 1 1/2 hrs away
As far as your 66 chevelle, there's always been a great market for the 66-7's, prices havent fallen in quite a few years now, especially a 4sp, you rarely see them out there any more, unless its tubbed out and butchered, there great looking cars!

After I sold my Studebaker last winter, we thrashed to get the Chevelle ready for DelMar. Thankfully, they raised it from 64 to 72 cut-off a couple of days after the sale. I had already done the 350, new 11" clutch, rebuilt 4 speed, disc brakes, new suspension, and all. My wife said she would not go to DelMar in it unless it had A/C, stereo, and a new interior. Well, Vintage Air, Custom Autosound am/fm cassette w/ 10 CD changer and all new interior were finished at 8PM thursday, and we left at 6AM Friday for DelMar. The outside was still all sunburnt, except where we had painted around the back window (after replacing the tray from the window to trunk lid) and door jambs and roofrail after we replaced all the weatherstripping. Ugly would be appropriate. People still wanted to buy it. Hard to believe. Wonder what it would be worth after it's all painted?

Is it straight and rustfree? Hard to put a price without seeing a picture, does it have any options, like factory gauges, buckets, console, is it a factory 4 gear, 10 bolt or 12bolt posi, do you have the original motor, is it the original tranny, was it a dog dish hubcap car-(believe it or not, the dog dish look is hot), whats the factory color, theres alot of factors to consider

It is straight. Had rust under back window, which we replaced witha new panel. This allowed the trunk floor to rust, which we repaired with left and middle patch panels (the kind molded like the original pan) and recoated. Has small rust holes at bottom of front fenders, which we made parch panels for and welded them in, so, now it is rust-free. It came with factory buckets and console. replaced the buns in the bucket seats, restored the console, rechromed the metal parts of the console, every piece of the interior is new. Replaced the stock dash stuff with the new in dash replacement gauges, looks like the SS dash, put in a knee-knocker tach. It had a 283, replaced it with 350, has original trans (rebuilt), original 308 open 10 bolt rear 9for now), was non-power steering, manual drum brake car, now has 71 Chevelle power disc brakes and quick ratio power steering from a Trans am. It was originally a silver car, looks to be an Earl Schieb type white paint job that was so chalky I washed the car with a Scotch bright pad before we left. It had 14 inch wheels with the dog dish caps (even had bias-ply tires), but I went to 15x7 and 15x8 ralley wheels, with the GM disc brake type cap (without rings) and 225x70 and 255x70x15 BFG tires. Once the outside is painted, and the rear is switched to a posi, I think it will be done.......then it's time to start on the 47!

It sounds like you've covered all bases, and has the options most buyers search out, the factory silver is a good color, and the disc brake centers look best IMO, I'd say you've got a winning combo!!
