What did you get done 9/29/2019 edition

It was a very busy work week for me and I wanted to zone out most of the weekend although I did take the 79 and clean it got all the old tree sap off and took all the sand out of the new bed. I have some welding work on that still some filler and then ill have it blasted so I can bedline it and mount it permanently . I also took the old bed to the scrap yard and sold a bunch of crap I had laying around.. How about you all?

Re: What did you get done 9/29/2019 edition

Got serious about my 82 short bed project. I bought a project truck with a crate 350 and turbo 350 trans. My 82 originally came with a 6cyl so the plan is to swap motor and trans out of the 85. I also plan on a front end rebuild and a 5/7 drop. Can’t wait to be back behind the wheel of my Squarebody. I also put a fuel pump in my dads 73 k10. The weekend was a busy one.

New pitman arm on my 1986 G-30 motorhome.
While beating the crap out of the pickle fork,a spare set of keys (in the little magnetic box) fell out on the floor!
I didn't know they were there! Second set I've found so far!

Put about 200 miles on it this weekend going back & forth to the GoodGuys Ft. Worth show. It was hot & there is never enough shade; but it was a good show.....

Cab corner welded in and etch primed. Started my 2wd to 4wd conversion. Have all 4 front leaf spring perches bolted on and started to un bolt the front engine cross member.

Re: What did you get done 9/29/2019 edition

Finally got my fuel system finished... 77 K10 that I bought about two months ago. I was having issues with fuel gauge not working, etc. I replaced both fuel sending units, replaced the fuel tank selector valve from the six port single wire to the six port five wire style. Had to rewire all that (which for me, is a nightmare - I’m terrible with electrical). New fuel lines, new fuel pump, three new fuel filters. A new tank selector switch in the cab, and an aftermarket, temporary fuel gauge until I get my wiring harness and cluster redone. Everything works correctly now!! I can switch between tanks and the gauge shows the correct fuel level for the correct tank. One project down, three thousand left to go.

Picked up a used Pro Tech headache rack. A good friend modified it to fit my tool box with some TIG magic. And decided if you are going to go redneck, you go all out with dual CB antennas, just because you can.

Re: What did you get done 9/29/2019 edition

Finally free'd my 5.3 from the donor Yukon. And then the long ram on my engine hoist gave up the ghost, so today I am replacing that with a higher quality unit so I can swap the flex plate and engine mounts and get my trans attached, so I can drop it into the truck this weekend and get the driveline shop over here to measure and pick up the driveshaft.

Hopefully by the end of this weekend I'll have the wiring harness in and have started on the fuel system installation.

Re: What did you get done 9/29/2019 edition

Replaced the fuel switching valve and headlight switch. Tank switch wasn't allowing fuel level signal to the gauge and the headlight switch was cutting the lights out intermittently. Everything appears to be working , for a change.

I do think I taught the neighbors some new words as I cussed out the GM engineers who designed a fuel valve that evidently was only meant to be worked on with the body off.
