tach wiring
Think I may have toasted my Autometer tach, but wanted to throw this question out there to see if I am missing something.
My tack is hooked up properly with green wire to HEI tach port, red to ignition on fuse box, and black to ground. I realized that I had it set for a 6 cyl. a month ago, because it was reving way higher than my engine. I pulled it out today, and turned the screw all the way to the left, or 8 cyl. mark and put back in place. Now when I start the truck , the needle immediately sweeps all the way to 8, 000 and stays there. I have checked ground, and all connections. Did I turn the screw to far and break my tach, or am I missing something obvious?

Double check that the setting isn't inbetween 6 and 8, or too far even.
Try messin with it while the truck is running too. |
