56 chevy truck plans

my plans for my 56 are:
use a hot rodded pontiac 400 engine with a poniac th350
use the original front suspention and steering,
but i will upgrade the brakes and wheel bearings.
im going to look into useing 4x4 bearings and disk brakes.
any ideas?

Reconsider using the original front suspension...that engine with original leafs and steering might be an issue.
I got a "No Limit, Wide Ride IFS" an my '59, and I'm really happy with it.

Sounds Like a neet truck blazinwest.
Although I would tend to agree with resin addict on the front end.
These trucks were designed to lumber along at 45-50 mph.
Any thing more than that then some type of upgrade is a good idea.
An upgrade could be a 71-up pickup IFS swap, camero graft, Cordoba torsion bar IFS graft or an aftermarket graft.
The skies the limit!
Have fun!

yeah i thought about it.
i have a 2wd 77 truck with a good front end but i like the look of the old solid axle
the only thing is the stock steering, will it hold up?
can i get a crossover setup or something?
and how can i put disk brakes in the front?

another possibility that i still have in the air is 4wd.
i could slap on an front axle with disk brakes, power steering, and good wheel bearings.
but i would probly not take it off road, cause i have a blazer that i use for that.
i have like 3 sets of 4wd axles, and a lot of chevy parts.
so it would be the cheaper way to go.
