Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
I dont know. If the caliper bracket is threaded like the Corvettes, more than likely its the same. I cant guarentee it since I didnt design the brackets for anything else. IF the cts calipers are like the F-body brackets (main bracket of the caliper is not threaded then i'd say no. You would have to do some leg work to see if it fits. Or just give it a try.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Excellent job!
I'm interested in doing this mod on a 1970 C10. Actually, I was inspired a few weeks ago by your thread on pro-touring using the LS1 brakes and was disappointed when the thread ended with you putting the Dodge brakes on. I've been trying to figure out how to do the conversion since then. Now it's a couple of weeks later, and I found this thread and the one on Full Size Chevy. What an Awesome solution. I'm guessing the Corvette backing plate works a little better because you're using those three holes the 'vette hub bolts into instead of having to re-drill the 12 bolt axle flange. I just finished my first basic CAD degree so I'm intimate with AutoCAD and Inventor and can probably re-create something similar. Also, I'm thinking about trying to use either 'vette J55 13" rotors, or Avalanche 1500 13" rear rotors which are 6x5.5 already so I wouldn't have to get new axles. But the Avalanche rotors are a LOT deeper than the 'vettes, 3.75" compared to less than 2". That being said, I don't know if JustN got your last kit or not. If not let me know. Something readily available is more desirable to me than having to find a machine shop around Plano, TX. There don't seem to be that many. Again, nicely done. -James |

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
They were designed for the c5/c6 brakes. The calipers are interchangeable, c6 are stiffer/stronger. Rotors are the same diameter, and thickness differences is the depth. Enough shims are supplies to go either way. I forgot which rotors i chose to install but either way the 5x5 bolt pattern needs to be drilled to the rotor
Clint Ps the dodge brakes worked awesome, just no parking brake. Need 17" wheel minimum.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Go to the GM dealer and have them look up the disc brake bracket setup for a 99 and newer truck. I'm sure it'll be less than $100 a side. You can get the rest of the components at Rockauto or your FLAPS. You'll have to drill the rotor for 5 lug though.
I spec'd this kit for a 2500 series truck, it was only $60 a side. The shoe, hardware and backing plate was only like another 30-$40. http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/wh...83557604518159 |

Have you actually installed it yet? Do the axle flange patterns match?

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
I don't believe they will, the flange on the 88-98 rear end housing has a different bolt pattern.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
You can call these guys and they'll make you a flange to weld onto your axle.
http://www.theshimshack.com/how-it-works On the other hand, you could always use the S10/Blazer or Impala SS setup. I'm sure you could source the same components from GM Their's more than one way to skin a cat. |

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
I have always wondered why you would want to skin a cat? I mean its gotta be a heck of a job to get them to hold still that long.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Getting them to hold still is easy after you make them blink with a ball pean hammer...or so I've heard.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Here are some pictures of the parking brake cables I wound up using. I'll post part numbers once I fire the laptop up..
Showing the back side of the bracket.. This way only one additional hole needs to be drilled into the stock frame bracket. Showing use of the cable holder Lost the other cable holder and only had 1 set left for the last kit.. So used the factory cable spring lock retainer Shows cable routing with a cable bracket bolted to the driver lower shock bolt.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Bringing this one back from the dead.
Did this ever make into production? I’ve got a 67 C20 AND a complete C5 brake setup. (pads, calipers, rotors) I’d love to use on the old girl. |
