Dodge Dana 60 in my 69 c20?

I would love to get disc brakes and a posi in the rear of my 1969 C20. Still has the factory Dana 60 3.54 with leaf springs under it. My 69' has a 396/TH400 combo with a 2 piece drive shaft. Wilwood Disc brakes in the front.

I found an 01 Dodge Dana 60 with brand new disc brakes and a posi for $300 locally, and I'm wondering what it will take to put it into my Chevy.

I can do some welding etc, but basically I'm looking for a cost effective way to get a posi and discs in the rear of my truck.

Thanks,

Slowboat

I'd be interested in seeing how that comes out. Does it have leaf springs at the same spread as your truck? Also, are the wheel bolt patterns the same (I think maybe they are)? There are u-joints for all kinds of combinations, these days. My brother put a F**d 9" in his '64 Nova wagon, and used to have to buy two u-joints to get the configuration he wanted. Now they are made to adapt a Chevy driveshaft to that diff yoke.

spring perches are fairly inexpensive and easy to weld so that's not a huge deal..

more important is the width, you'll need to compare the wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface..

good luck!

Re: Dodge Dana 60 in my 69 c20?

The dodge rear end is about 4” wider at the wheel mounting surfaces.
Spring pads are farther apart too
One shock in front and one in rear.

Its enough different that you cant make it fit and have it be reasonable close to stock, its just too wide.

I don’t know for sure about the wms on the later 14 bolts but you could always look into an early to mid 2000’s 10.5 or 11.5 14 bolt out of an hd gm truck, they are stronger than the 60s and will get you disks with a good drum park brake setup. I’ve got a couple stashed away but I’m not at a point where I can measure the wms on them. If I remember right somewhere around 09-10 they changed the stud pattern so the later ones won’t work with factory steel wheels. Obviously this would require a re-perch and new shock mounts but as said above that’s pretty easy.
