Seat Lowering

I know there is a company making lowering brackets for the 67+ trucks, but can't find any info on lowering the stock bench in my 65.
Anybody done this with a kit or otherwise?
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Seat Lowering

The bracket from a 67 should work. I had a 70 seat in my 66 for a while when I rebuilt my seat. Biggest difference in the seats was the later seat did not fold forward.

Re: Seat Lowering

I found a link to Full Custom Fabrication that sells new seat brackets that lower your seat about 2 inches. Direct bolt on that took less then 30 minutes.

Re: Seat Lowering

Was just about to order a set when I noticed that the only way to adjust the seat appears to be with slots in the floor mounting bolts. Unfortunately my wife also drives the truck, so that would not work. Am I missing something, or is there another way to do this?

To those that's done this, did it make the pedals any more difficult to operate?

Re: Seat Lowering

I am 6' 4" and all I did was install 1/2" spacers under the front seat mounts. It's more about position than leg room.

Well I am 6ft 2" and the steering wheel rubbed my legs so bad I had to drive like I was having a baby. haha

Lowering the seat changed everything and I love it.

Re: Seat Lowering

There are 3 different sets of brackets / sliders that are different heights spread over the 6 years of trucks 1967-1972. I suspect that the person who "drove like they were having a baby" had a taller set mixed with a seat that was originally with another shorter set of brackets . . .
If you do a search on the 67-72 pages there is a post with very clear photos and descriptions of the three different set sizes.

Re: Seat Lowering

My new seat foam was about 1" taller than the old foam. I assumed it was because the old foam had collapsed. But my skinny legs still hit the bottom of the steering wheel and I felt too tall and I'm short in the upper body.

I wanted to keep the seat brackets factory so my plan was to use a long saw to cut a 1" section out of the middle of the foam and glue it together. That way I didn't have to duplicate the upper or lower shapes.

I didn't do it as I sold the truck before I had a chance.

Re: Seat Lowering

I was curious about this too for these c10's, I also have a '47 I had to do some seat foam work and seat bracket fabrication to get work, not comfortable but it works , at 6' 7" I struggle with these older trucks.
The issue I have is my knees above steering wheel and into the dash, I also have to duck to see out of windshield. I need to do something with this C10

Thank you for the replies

As I am having the seat redone as well, I talked to the guy recovering it and he said he can basically do what you said. He has a special foam saw that can do a nice clean cut. Says this is a common problem and he has done this a lot, so problem solved and I don't loose adjustment.
