Hood to cowl seal question?

Anybody that has a '55-'59 could someone look at the weatherstrip seal that's at the back of the hood and tell me if the opening faces the front of the truck or if it faces the windshield?
To make it simple, the seal is like an "L" when you're looking at it from the side...I need to know if the "bottom of the "L" (when looking at it from the drivers side) points toward the cab like the "L" shown, or toward the front, as if the "L" is mirrored.

The weatherstrip in question should be installed so that the bottom of the "L" shape is pointing towards the cab.
When installed in this position, the hood when closed, will sweep the weatherstrip to a sealed position. Thus "L" configuration will changed to a sealed "C" confriguration when the hood is closed.
