Question for those who have changed from leaf to coil

I have a 72 c10 short bed with leaf spring rearend and dJm flip kit I recently installed a 496 stroker and plan on getting rid of the 373 gears. And have thoughts of converting it over to trailing arms and coil over and was wondering those who have already done it do you have any regrets or advice. I’ve been looking at the ride tech kit.

Hey, that's me. I went to coils for ride quality. My leafs were really stiff. It rode terrible. I went with the Ridetech streetgrip. It rides so nice now. Handles well too. Let me know if you have any questions.

I just read and watched your you tube videos, Awesome truck and great job documenting everything. My leaf spring really doesn’t ride to bad just thinking of changing things up a bit. I actually just contacted a guy from Lenexa and inquired about a coil spring rearend. Here is a pic of my work in progress

Mine is a long bed, but I went from leaf springs to RideTech trailing arms with bags. Zero regrets. See the link to my build thread in my signature.

Was it Bob? I bought all of my OEM parts to convert from him. Great guy.

Bob is correct, He is checking on gear ratio tonight, If it’s what I want I’m all over it if not there is one here locally and I’ll just do a gear change on it.

I'm looking to switch from leaf springs also. Any particular reason for going with trailing arms vs 4-bar? Universal weld on kits are 1/2 the price of trailing arms.

Unless you're drag racing or doing auto-cross... coil overs will be a waste of money. Stock springs and shocks (or lowering springs and correct shocks) with stock trailing arms are economical and a pretty easy swap. The biggest issue is the spring perches on the axle tubes.

I'm not looking for racing or coil-overs. Looking to convert from leaf and most likely go airbag. Not looking for anything extreme just the fact that to buy good condition or after market trailing arms the cost is more than a 4-bar set up.
