Wierd wiper problem
Well with weather getting colder I'm getting slight frost and moister on the outside of my windows, normal of course but just noticed now when I turn my wipers on to clear the windshield, 1 of my washer tips is spraying slightly with the wipers, the washer has never worked since I got the truck and never looked into it as I barely drove the truck. Any ideas where to start looking? My hunch is the connection in the steering column is glitching maybe?

Re: Wierd wiper problem
I guessing it the one in the pro file pic. Your tip needs cleaning first. could be blocked blow out or bent needs hole open up the use needles be gentle the should be copper. maybe a block line cracked hose or lose hose.

Re: Wierd wiper problem
My pic is my old truck this is a jack up 4x4 one hahah. I'm sure the lines are clogged or the pump is tired but my problem is I am not wanting it to squirt, i just turn my wipers on to clear rain or water and it starts pumping washer fluid with each pass of the wiper

Re: Wierd wiper problem
Simplest way is to disconnect the wiper pump wires (pink and white I believe). These units always seems to have a mind of their own, especially when they are old. I bypassed mine and use a generic washer pump motor for mine. Works way better.

Re: Wierd wiper problem
Did you use your old wiring on the new pump or completely new wires and switch?

Quote:
I'd run two new wires from the firewall or solder some new sections and heatshrink the splices. Download the wiring diagrams for your year. The wiper/washer wiring is pretty clear on everything but 1987... 87 is a PITA to read. I used a 1985 CK tank and pump assembly to begin with and later updated to a larger capacity washer tank from some 90's or early aughts van or car... can't remember which. Not even sure it was a domestic vehicle. It held somewhat more than a gallon of fluid. It was exposed and danglilng from the front corner of a vehicle that had a lot of stuff cut away in a U-wreckit yard. It looked like it would fit so i snagged it for a couple bucks. Cars are more compact but still hold a lot of fluid nowadays. There's a bunch of realestate beside the radiator on the LH side even with dual batteries. Measure and go looking.
