Electric cooling fan
Of all the electric cooling fans out there, which ones are the best? I'll be trying to cool my 1972's 402 bb in my longhorn. I'd like to get rid of the belt driven fan.
ps. Are there any out of other vehicles that would work?

There are a few kits made for our trucks. You can call Perma-cool and they should tell you what their kit is capable of cooling. If you measure your radiator and go to a junk yard and find a truck with a simular size, you should be able to make that fan work, just make sure its atleast a Small block w/air so it will cool your big block.

OEM fans pull way more air than the aftermarket fan. Rumor has it one of the best fans is one crom a Ford Taurus circa 1990. You are looking for the 2 speed fan. Low pulls about as much air as any of the aftermarket fans, and high, well it just 'blows' them away!

Looks like a nice setup Wes. Are those pusher or puller fans? (inside or outside of radiator). I will be doing this in the future, not a bad price either.

These are pullers. I believe they are rated at 2600 cfm each. I have had them on my BB Blazer for 2 years and they work great. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Heavy Duty Black Magic fans pull more air than the perma-cool fans. I had to switch to a black magic fan in my Jeep because it kept over heating with the perma-cool.

I have the Flex-a-Lite Black Magic puller fan and it works very well with my setup.... I'm running a 4 row with a/c condensor and trans cooler in front of it... no worries.

I am using wes's dual fan setup with his stainless shroud and it keeps my 383 right at 170 degrees even in 95 degree temp. in traffic, very high quality and even gives you more room in the engine compartment.

A lot of 90's fords have some Honker electrics. Last Gen of the V8 mustangs all run them, same with the v8 T birds and the lincolns.

Grim Reaper, I've heard about the guys that hop up their ponies getting the fans from the land barges. Are you familiar with dimensions? Are any close enough that can be made to work with the radiators in our trucks?
Also, this all brings up an interesting point does anyone really know or can verify what a mechanical fan really pulls at a given rpm?
