Shock crossmember size
51 truck, adding a four link, what size tube should i use for rear shock crossmember? I have 1”x2”x .08”. Seemed thin, so i found a piece of 11/4x 11/4x.17. Hhavent decided what ends of shocks to use either, probably qa1 but thinking , wellding tabs on the tube might be better than drilling through the tube and mounting with a bolt, Opinions?

Re: Shock crossmember size
I always used 1 5/8 .125 wall in the drag cars. When we were building drag cars I used a lot of brackets and tabs from these guys. Good quality and service. Still have a bunch of stuff always comes in handy. https://www.aa-mfg.com/

Re: Shock crossmember size
That 1 5/8 would be fine for a regular shock bar but I think it needs to be stronger for 4 link. It need to support the weight of the truck.
