Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10

Update time: Dad has been having a lot of trouble with rust in the gas tank. Was running two fuel filters but would drive about a mile and the thing would die. Solution...need a new tank. While we were dove hunting out in west tx this weekend, i found a almost new behind the seat LMC tank with a fuel sender. Inside of the tank looked brand new! got the setup for $65 bucks. Not bad at all. We will eventually put a tank under the bed, but 65 bucks for a temporary cheap fix isn't bad. Anyway, dad said it was a "fun time" getting the tank in by himself. haha

Here are the pics.

Also, the truck is running great now. No trash in the tank.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10

Below are some pics of the new steering wheel installed. We will eventually upgrade to a nicer wheel once we swap the column. Baby steps.

Check out how small the previous wheel was. Much needed upgrade.

Dad also picked up new plugs, wires, and degreaser. Next project is cleaning up the engine bay a bit.

Pic also gives a little closer view of the interior. Pretty clean in there. Except PO cut the dash for a radio....

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10

Did the swap meet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, found some great deals on some parts i needed. Met up with a guy named Tim on Sunday who helped me with a door, fenders, hood and some other parts. It was great talking with him, thanks RDancher for the hook up. My son will post pictures of my weekend score.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10

Small update. This weekend dad changed our the cap and wires, put on his new mirrors, hood inserts, cab molding and door latch on the passenger side.

Plan next is to pick up his passenger door he purchased after the rain stops in Texas and get that on. Also will pull out the hood and fenders he bought and start the body work on those.

It could be the gasket under the sending unit

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10

Well, C10 Nationals was a blast. Dad was able to take his 62 out but my 81 sprung a bad leak on the kickdown cable and i couldnt get it fixed in time...

Here a few photos from C10 Nationals and the "patina" bed bars dad put on.

Oh...and a burnout photo from a recent cruise night.

Oh...and its s BBW!

Here is a pic of the 62, 75, and my 81 from the weekend.
