Repro Grill shell QUALITY???

What can you tell me about the quality of reproduction 71-72 grill shells. I am looking to buy one,... I just can't make up my mind if I want a repop one or not. I am looking for a GOOD price on a NOS one that I will use after my 2wd Blazer gets painted. But for now,... I just need a grill shell to get the thing on the road. HELP!

I bought a repro grill shell (I'm assuming you're talking about the outer portion that surrounds the headlights) - it had to 'modified' to get it to fit. The bottom portion that sits between the fenders, and behind the bumper was about 1/2 to wide - it had to trimmed to fit. Also the headlights don't sit in the center of the holes in the surround - they sit a little toward the inside. If I were to do it again, I would have come up with the extra $2-300 for the NOS unit. The repro actually looks OK from a distance, but when you get up close you can tell it's a repro... just doesn't fit quite right....

I don't have a problem with the one I got from the Truck Shop at the Pomona Swap Meet a couple of years ago. I didn't do any trimming, just rivited and screwed it all together.

I suppose there are different quality repro parts. I ordered mine form Golden State pickup parts, right before and during a change in ownership a few years ago. At some point I will swap out the one I have, I may try another repro outer grill - no modifying next time around - if it doesn't fit, I'm going NOS.
